Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens is in hot water again after being fined $22,511 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness.
The incident occurred during the Steelers’ Week 14 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, when Pickens was flagged for a personal foul after hitting a Bengals defender in the helmet.
This is not Pickens’ first run-in with the league’s disciplinary office. Earlier this season, he was fined $10,485 for unsportsmanlike conduct after arguing with an official during a game.
“George knows he can’t keep putting himself and his team in these situations,” said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. “He’s got to learn to control his emotions and play within the rules.”
The fine is the latest in a series of disciplinary issues for Pickens, who has struggled to stay out of trouble on and off the field.
“Pickens is a talented player, but he’s got to get his act together,” said NFL analyst Mike Florio. “These fines and penalties are adding up, and it’s only a matter of time before he faces a suspension.”
Pickens will appeal the fine, but if upheld, it will be a significant hit to his wallet.
What do you think, Steelers Nation? Can Pickens get his act together and avoid further disciplinary issues?
