Arne Slot will have some members of his Liverpool squad unavailable to face West Ham in the Premier League this evening. The Reds return to top-flight action with a trip to the London Stadium in their final match of the calendar year.
Liverpool have a six-point lead over second-placed Chelsea in the Premier League table going into the clash against the Hammers. The Reds have won their last two top-flight fixtures against Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City and will be looking to end 2024 with another victory.
Slot has been forced to deal with several injury concerns throughout his first season as Liverpool’s new head coach. Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley remain sidelined with injuries they picked up against Real Madrid last month, but are closing in on a return to the matchday squad.
“They will not be back for West Ham United,” Slot told reporters on Friday. “Then there is a week in between. Let’s see how close they are then. It is difficult to tell you at this moment because they don’t train with the group yet.
“Hopefully, in the upcoming days they come closer to that situation. But then again, Ibou has been out for five or six weeks maybe, Conor just as long and they are in competition with players who are completely fit and doing really well so I have to make the right judgement the moment they are back.”
Dominik Szoboszlai will also not be involved in Liverpool’s clash against West Ham. The Hungary international picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Leicester on Boxing Day and will now serve a one-match suspension.
