Alexis McAllister says he “couldn’t be happier” ahead of Liverpool’s return from injury in their 2-0 win over Newcastle United. After making his first start for the Reds with a long-range strike against Fulham earlier this month, his progress was hampered when he suffered a deep cut to his left knee against Sheffield United. He has not played since, missing six games over the festive period, with Jurgen Klopp having to juggle options including the Premier League schedule, Carabao Cup qualification and Europa League draws.
However, Liverpool appear to have been revitalized by returning to action away to Newcastle United on New Year’s Day. The manager said the squad will need to be assessed during training before a decision is made, but did not confirm for sure if the Argentine would be involved.
